Visiting IWP Writers from 7 Countries Collaborate with UI Theatre Students for Free Performance

Global Express: A Night of Theater & Writing – Free & Open to All This Friday, Oct. 11, 8PM

IOWA CITY, IOWA — The International Writing Program (IWP) and the Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Iowa collaborate to host Global Express: A Night of Theater & Writing, a free event open to the public this Friday, Oct. 11, 8PM, at the UI Theatre Building, Alan MacVey Theatre.

Global Express offers an exceptional peek into literary works by contemporary writers from around the world, and gives international writers the unique opportunity to see their work performed before an American audience.

IWP 2019 writers-in-residence from Argentina, Greece, Japan, Latvia, Mexico, Nigeria, and Turkey collaborate with UI Theatre Arts students to perform a train of theatrical readings of literary works by these international visitors. 

 

This year’s IWP Fall Residency includes 28 writers from 26 countries in its 11-week Fall Residency for writing and cultural exchange, hosted with major support from the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs of the U.S. State Department and the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.
