Five Reads for Friday: Sept 25, 2020

September 25, 2020

At the University of Iowa, we love our writers, our programs, we love our graduates and our students -- and we love the wealth of literature that they gift us, simply by being part of our community.

We have created "5 Reads for Friday" as an easy, laid-back series, compiling a short list of inspirational, helpful and fun treasures from our family to yours. Enjoy what you find, take what you need, and be well.

  • From the Iowa Review archives: Very Special Friend, Maggie McKnight, 2008

"During the reception, we stood by the river and marvelled at all the folks -- family members, friends, gays, straights, people of all ages -- who had gathered to celebrate."

  •  From the Literary Translation program: An interview with Literary Translation MFA candidate Mallory Truckenmiller Saylor

"Right now, I’m really just trying to soak up all the advantages of being in Iowa City, of being surrounded (virtually, right now) by talented artists and scholars, whose influences have started to show up in my work."
