RSVP by April 17th for 'Examined Life' Events

Authors Maggie Conroy, Rachel Hadas, and Ethan Canin will present at "The Examined Life: Writing and the Art of Medicine," a two-day conference (April 24 - 25) focusing on the links between the science of medicine and the art of writing. Maggie Conroy keynote presentation, "Sailing into Iowa: A Dramatic Reading," 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, in the atrium of the Medical Education and Research Facility (MERF) on the UI health sciences campus. Free. Lunch will be available for purchase at the door.
Rachel Hadas keynote reading, "Notes from the Kingdom of Illness," and reception. 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the University of Iowa Museum of Art. Tickets $10, available at the door.
Ethan Canin keynote presentation, "Oxidation of Squalene by Squalene Epoxidase to Form 2,3-Oxidosqualene, or, How I Left Medicine for Writing," 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in the atrium of the Medical Education and Research Facility (MERF) on the UI health sciences campus. Free. Lunch will be available for purchase at the door.
Physicians, writers, health sciences students and professionals, and members of the general public should register to attend other events associated with the conference.
