Alarcón, a graduate of the Iowa Writers' Workshop ('04), is currently on tour promoting his debut novel, Lost City Radio, his second book after the publication of his collection of stories, War by Candlelight.Alarcón, a recipient of the 2004 Whiting Award and finalist for the 2006 PEN/Hemingway Award, has been widely recognized as a writer of exceptional talent, both by the press and by fellow writers. As fiction writer Vinnie Wilhelm recalls from their time in the Workshop together, "the pieces he put up for workshop demonstrated that Daniel had a few things figured out.
