Peter Nazareth

Peter Nazareth (born April 27, 1940), a major critic and writer, was born in Uganda of Goan and Malaysian decent. He is currently professor of English and African-American World Studies at the University of Iowa, where he is also acts as a advisor to the International Writing Program.

THERMOS

THERMOS was founded by three University of Iowa MFA alumni in the spring of 2008. It is produced as a print and online journal, with a literary blog component. Featured include interviews with poets and editoral pieces. THERMOS is published twice each year, in the spring and the fall.

All poems are solicited. We do not accept any unsolicited submissions. We choose our contributors on the basis of recommendation and encounter.

NWP Alum Wins Prestigious Rona Jaffe Writers’ Award

Inara Verzemnieks, a graduate student in the University of Iowa Nonfiction Writing Program (NWP), is one of six 2012 winners of the prestigious Rona Jaffe Writers’ Awards. She will receive the $30,000 award at a Sept. 20 event in New York.

The award, created by celebrated novelist Rona Jaffe to identify and support women writers of unusual talent and promise in the early stages of their writing careers, is presented by the Rona Jaffe Foundation.
