Workshop alum Stempleman's new collection

Independent publisher Magic Helicopter Press has recently released Iowa Writers' Workshop alum Jordan Stempleman’s newest collection of poetry No, Not Today.

Poet Heather Christle writes about the collection, "With affectionate and funny familiarity, No, Not Today records the thinking that shapes days from within. Anxieties assert themselves, love insists on appearing, and meanwhile time and how we name it cycle onward. It’s like Jordan Stempleman himself decided to ‘each morning / wake up, look out at the world and sign hooray.’”

Magid Center | Undergraduate Certificate in Writing

Nestled in the only American town honored with the designation of being a UNESCO City of Literature, the UI has recently added to its rich literary tradition by offering a brand new Undergraduate Certificate in Writing Program, enabling students in all majors to benefit from the wide-ranging writing programs and resources available on campus.

By pursuing a concentration in writing related to their majors, their career goals, or their personal interests, students in this certificate program will have the opportunity to develop their skills (creatively, academically, and professionally) by recognizing that strong writing is still the most necessary and sought-after strength a college graduate can have. Administered by the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and housed in the Frank N. Magid Undergraduate Writing Center, the Writing Certificate is open to all students regardless of major or area of study.
