On Tuesday, March 11, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., the University of Iowa linked with the University of Baghdad to present Book Wings, a marathon of six specially commissioned short plays.

The plays included works by David Kranes, long-time artistic director of Robert Redford's Sundance Playwrights Lab; Catherine Filloux, co-founder of Theatre Without Borders; and prominent Iraqi journalist and playwright Hassab Allah Yahya. View the archive here: 

 

Then, on Thursday, March 13, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., the University of Iowa joined with the Moscow Art Theatre to present another installment of Book Wings, again featuring six specially commissioned short plays, including works by Iowa Writers' Workshop alum Anthony Marra (A Constellation of Vital Phenomena), Robin Romm, Michelle Carter, and best-selling Chechen author Herman Sadulaev.
